Join the Land Trust for this fun, festive annual event! Search for the perfect holiday tree while helping restore the native forests of the Metolius Preserve.

The Tree Hunt will be held at the Land Trust's Metolius Preserve North Fork kiosk weather permitting:

12/2/10 Weather Update: The Tree Hunt is on---BUT the forecast and conditions are wintery! Snow and freezing rain have made the road into the Land Trust's Preserve slushy and slick. We are recommending that you have a 4WD vehicle or carry chains. You should be prepared for winter driving conditions. Be sure to have a shovel and be prepared to dig your car out if necessary. Once out on the Preserve there are several inches of snow on the ground. See you Saturday!

Other important details:

  • We will be cutting grand fir trees.
  • Trees are free-range and not sculpted to be the perfect Christmas Tree. But they are beautiful and available in lots of sizes.
  • Trees are scattered throughout the forests of the Metolius Preserve so you will have to hunt for them!
  • Bring your own hand saw (no chainsaws please) and rope.
  • Dogs are allowed on leash only.
  • Dress for the weather.
  • We'll provide warm drinks!

There is a suggested $10 donation.
