Chukkers for Charity, aka Polo in Central Oregon?

Aug 09, 2011
The oldest team sport takes hold in Central Oregon and benefits local nonprofits.

Polo.  In my mind it is an English sport--a sport I've clicked through briefly while surfing television channels.  Central Oregon seemed like the last place I could expect to become acquainted with the sport.  Little did I know that Bend has its own polo club, the Cascade Polo Club, and its own field at Camp Fraley Ranch.

Quite honestly, my curiosity is piqued.  Tailgating, horses, a beautiful Central Oregon afternoon, and a chance to wear an amazing hat--sounds like a good time to me!  So on August 21st, I'll be attending my first match as the Cascade Polo Club hosts the USPA Players Cup, Camp Fraley Ranch Trophy.  This match is also a benefit for the Deschutes Land Trust, Redmond Humane Society, Equine Outreach and Sparrow Clubs USA.  Download a voucher and bring it with you to benefit the Land Trust.   And here's a polo primer if you need prep yourself!
