Seizing the Dog Days of Summer

Aug 17, 2012
Land Trust staff comment on their outdoor "to do" list for the waning days of summer. Enjoy photos of our favorite canine companions!

As the end of summer is quickly approaching, we've asked the Land Trust staff to share the summer experience that is still on their "to do" list.  What is one thing you hope to do or place you hope to visit in the last days of August?

Deb- Kayaking!  My summer is not complete without an adventure on Hosmer and Sparks Lake.

Pat- Sand castles at the beach.

Lisa- Harvesting purple tomatoes from my garden and kayaking on Waldo Lake with my husband and puppy.  I realize that’s two, but I just can’t pick!

Zak- I am still hoping to get over to the Ochoco’s, either to camp for a night or two, or even just for a day hike!

Ashley- To get out fishing on the Lower Deschutes!

Amanda- My family cabin in the mountains of northern PA. We’ll be there next week!

Brad Nye- Hope to get some surfing in... destination unknown.

Sarah- I have to take my 5 year old and 2.5 year old on our annual backpacking trip. The goal: a campsite near water that is maximum 1.5 miles in from the trailhead. Preferably in a wilderness “where deer are safe” like Will says. Necessary supplies: M&Ms as power pellets to make the huge distance.

Brad Chalfant- Steelhead extravaganza on the Lower Deschutes.

Happy dogs days of summer from the Land Trust staff...
