With great sadness, the Land Trust notes the passing of Bill Dakin. Our deepest sympathies to Gretchen and their family. Bill was one of the Land Trust's earliest Board members and, with his wife Gretchen, was among our most dedicated advocates.
Bill joined the fledgling Land Trust Board in 1996, shortly after it was incorporated. Quiet and unassuming, his determination to grow the organization immediately endeared him to fellow board members and to the staff and volunteers that followed. Whether he was using his accounting expertise, getting his hands dirty out on the land, or helping raise funds for the next Preserve, Bill was always there to help.
While Bill looked forward to the next acquisition or restoration project, his passion for the wildlife and spectacular views of Indian Ford Meadow Preserve never waned. Not surprisingly, Bill took great satisfaction knowing that his work, and that of so many others, has ensured that his beloved Indian Ford Meadow will continue to be there for generations to come. Bill truly made a difference and we'll miss him greatly.
