New Middle Fork bridge connects Metolius Preserve

Jul 11, 2014
A newly constructed bridge over the Middle Fork of Lake Creek at the Metolius Preserve offers new routes for exploration!

The dog days of summer are the perfect time to retreat to the Metolius Preserve. Shaded by ancient ponderosa pine and crossed by cold-water creeks, the Preserve is a great place to find showy cascade lilies and fluttering butterflies. Then head towards the Middle Fork of Lake Creek and check out our new bridge!

The newly completed Middle Fork bridge connects new routes for summer exploration. Built partially with wind-fallen larch from the Preserve, the bridge crosses the creek near one of our favorite old-growth ponderosa, estimated to be over 300 years old. Use the bridge to explore the full range of habitats at the Metolius Preserve and connect your favorite trails. See the trail map here.
