Community First Bank Donates to Deschutes Land Trust
Community First Bank recently opened Central Oregon’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Bank Branch – a strong step forward toward their goal of building and operating using environmentally responsible practices. As a part of this sustainability effort, Community First is donating a fixed amount to the Deschutes Land Trust for every account that switches from paper statements to electronic statements. They are also donating to the Trust for each new Green Account that opens. The Green Account features e-statements, recycled checks, online banking and online bill pay. Robin Freeman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Community First Bank stated, “Customers love the new green options, which resulted in a third quarter donation of $1795 to the Deschutes Land Trust. This promotion will run through 2008, with another check presented in early 2009.”
Freeman also added, “We are glad to be able to partner with this great organization that protects the beauty of Central Oregon. A passion for the outdoors is a common thread between many of our team members and customers – it is important that we do what we can to preserve this great lifestyle. ”
Brad Chalfant, executive director of the Deschutes Land Trust, said: “We are pleased that Community First has selected the Land Trust with this donation in honor of their efforts to reduce their environmental impact. The contribution will go toward our efforts to protect the special places in our region, not just for ourselves but for future generations.”
The mission of the Deschutes Land Trust is to work cooperatively with landowners to conserve land for wildlife, scenic views and local communities. The Land Trust has been protecting Central Oregon’s beauty and quality of life since 1995. DLT currently protects more than 7,200 acres and is working on many projects—including the 33,000-acre Skyline Forest—to preserve scenic views, trails and wildlife habitat, as well as important lands along the region’s rivers and streams.
Community First Bank exclusively serves the community of Central Oregon with branches in Prineville, Redmond, La Pine, Madras, Terrebonne and three locations in Bend. Community involvement is a core belief and we are committed to giving back through our time, talents, and financial support.
