Directions to Land Trust Preserves

Directions to Deschutes Land Trust Community Preserves.

Jump down for directions to Indian Ford Meadow Preserve, the Metolius Preserve, and Whychus Canyon Preserve.

To Camp Polk Meadow Preserve:

Camp Polk Meadow Preserve kiosk coordinates (UTM NAD83): 618002, 4908855
From Hwy 126:
Turn onto Camp Polk Road (toward Aspen Lakes Golf Course). Drive 3.1 miles and take a right onto gravel road just before Cemetery Road.  At top of hill continue on the gravel road to the right.  You will see the Preserve parking area and informational kiosk on the right hand side of the road. 

From Sisters: Turn north on N. Locust Road (Camp Polk Road). Drive 2.9 miles to the Camp Polk Road/ Wilt Road intersection and take a right on Camp Polk Road.  Drive 0.4 miles and take a left onto gravel road just after Cemetery Road.  Continue as above.

From Bend: Take highway 20 to Sisters and turn right on Cloverdale Lane (between mile markers 5 and 4). Continue driving on Cloverdale until Hwy 126 intersection.  Take a left on Hwy 126, drive 1/4 mile and turn right on Camp Polk Road.  Drive 3.1 miles and take right onto gravel road just before Cemetery Road.  Continue as above.

To Indian Ford Meadow Preserve:

From Sisters: 
Turn north onto N. Locust Road (Camp Polk Road). Drive 2.7 miles and take a left onto Indian Ford Road.  Park on the side of the road.  The Preserve is on the west side of the road and you can enter through the gate.

From Bend: Drive Hwy 20 to Sisters and turn right on S. Locust Road (Camp Polk Road). Continue as above.

To Metolius Preserve:

South Fork kiosk coordinates (UTM NAD83): 603743, 4920718
To South Fork Kiosk from Sisters:
 Drive 10.6 miles west of Sisters on Highway 20/126. Turn right on unmarked Forest Service Road 2064. This is the first right turn 0.7 miles after the Camp Sherman/Metolius River turnoff. (You'll know you've gone too far if the highway starts to head uphill and turns into 3 lanes.) Travel 2.6 miles on Road 2064 (rough cinder road).  Turn right on Road 800 and continue for 0.25 miles.  Turn right on Road 810 and continue for 0.25 miles.  Look for gravel parking area and informational kiosk.

North Fork kiosk coordinates (UTM NAD83): 604984, 4922113
To North Fork Kiosk from Sisters:
 Drive 9.8 miles west of Sisters on Highway 20/126. Take a right on Camp Sherman Road/Road 14.  Drive about 5 miles on Road 14 and Road 1410 (stay left/straight at fork) until you reach a stop sign. Turn left at the stop sign, onto Road 1216 and drive for 1.5 miles. Turn left at the Preserve entrance sign onto Road 600 (gravel road) and drive approximately 0.25 miles.  Look for parking area and kiosk.

To Whychus Canyon Preserve:

Whychus Canyon Preserve kiosk coordinates (UTM NAD83): 623319, 4910477
From Bend:
Drive northwest on Hwy 20 for approximately 13 miles. Turn north on Fryrear Road and continue 5.5 miles to intersection with Hwy 126.  Turn left on Hwy 126 for 1 mile, then turn right on Goodrich Road. Follow Goodrich Road for 1.5 miles until the paved road begins to curve sharply to the right. Continue straight at the curve onto a gravel road and follow this road 1.3 miles north to a split in the road. You’ll see a Preserve welcome sign straight ahead. Continue straight north for another 0.4 miles to the kiosk and parking area.

From Sisters: Drive east from Sisters on Hwy 126 for approximately 5.4 miles. Turn left on Goodrich Road. Follow Goodrich Road for 1.5 miles until the paved road begins to curve sharply to the right. Continue straight at the curve onto a gravel road and follow this road 1.3 miles north to a split in the road. You’ll see a Preserve welcome sign straight ahead. Continue straight north for another 0.4 miles to the kiosk and parking area.
