Ochoco Creek Clean-up

Mark your calendars and come lend a hand to care for Ochoco Creek!

Crook County Rotary Club and Crook County Parks are joining together for a clean-up party to remove trash from the creek within the city of Prineville.

The clean up will be a bit different this year so here are a few things to know:

  • Online registration is required. To keep volunteers and organizers safe, all participants are required to register online.
  • During the registration process volunteers are asked to review and agree to updated volunteer health + safety guidelines. We ask folks carefully review new COVID guidelines to decide if this opportunity is right for you. Masks are required.
  • Volunteers will work in household teams spaced out from other groups. Like in the past, there will be instream and out of stream volunteer opportunities. Instream volunteers must be 18 years or older, younger volunteers must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Each volunteer group will be assigned a section to focus on. We anticipate it will take about 2 hours to thoroughly clean a section.
  • Trash bags, pickers, and latex gloves will be provided.
  • Bring rubber or other boots with traction for muddy and wet bank conditions, waders and neoprene gloves for those doing instream work, warm clothes, sunscreen, hat, eye protection/sunglasses, walking or wading stick for support.
  • Be prepared for changing conditions, including winter weather and varying water levels.
