Bird Hike, Demaris Ranch

Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Jen Zalewski for a hike at a potential Land Trust-protected property outside of Prineville. Demaris Ranch is a privately-owned ranch on McKay Creek that the Land Trust has been working to conserve. This hike will explore a portion of the ranch's 2,000 acres by hiking along McKay and Lincoln Creeks and up into the hills of the ranch. Enjoy spring birding as you take in scenic views of McKay Creek and the surrounding forest. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

    Hike Rating: This is a moderate ~3-4 mile hike across uneven terrain.

    Route: This hike will follow McKay Creek and Lincoln Creek partway up into the hills of Demaris Ranch. Terrain will be uneven at times.

    Elevation gain/loss: This hike is moderate with 150' of elevation gain/loss.

    Binoculars (if you have them), snacks/lunch, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.
