Friends, colleagues, and Oregon politicians gathered in the capital to recognize former governor Vic Atiyeh who passed away in July. The governor served at a time of great economic distress and had both supporters and opponents.
An avid fly-fisherman, Atiyeh was a champion of Oregon's rivers, particularly the lower Deschutes River. The governor offered essential leadership to the protection of much of the lower Deschutes River for public use. As we acknowledge the passing of a remarkable Oregonian, we're truly thankful for the legacy created by his commitment to Oregon's Deschutes River.
