Charitable IRA rollover

Mar 01, 2017
It's tax time! If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a contribution to the Deschutes Land Trust using a charitable IRA rollover.

In December, 2015, Congress voted to make permanent the charitable IRA rollover, allowing Americans age 70 ½ and older to make contributions from their Individual Retirement Accounts to qualified nonprofits like the Deschutes Land Trust.

The bill allows exclusions of up to $100,000 a year from income if IRA funds are contributed directly to a nonprofit. The IRA rollover provision is an important tool for many retirees, but, like all significant financial decisions, should be made in consultation with a qualified financial advisor. For information on whether making a contribution from your IRA is right for you, please consult your financial advisor.

The Deschutes Land Trust is a qualified 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. For further questions or information on how your contribution can aid the Land Trust, contact Brad Chalfant or call the office at (541) 330-0017.
