IRA Charitable Giving

Feb 22, 2018
Consider donating to your Land Trust via your retirement account!

As we approach tax time, for many it’s also time to think about charitable giving and annual disbursements. As you consider your options, be sure to look into charitable giving from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA)!

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a charitable gift from your IRA without counting those gifts as part of your adjusted gross income. Charitable contributions can be made up to a maximum of $100,000, from eligible retirement accounts including traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs. Gifts must come directly from your IRA administrator.

Obviously, not everyone is in a position to make such a gift, but if you do qualify, it can be an important way to make a charitable gift and help further the work of the Land Trust! Contact your tax advisor for more information.
