Join the Land Trust at Priday Ranch for Open Preserve Day!
May 30, 2026, 10am-3pm
Priday Ranch is a 4,973 acre Preserve on Trout Creek north of Madras. The Ranch protects ~11 miles of Trout Creek, Antelope Creek, and Ward Creek, rugged canyons, and native grasslands. It is home to numerous wildlife species including steelhead, nesting golden eagles, mule deer, Rocky Mountain elk, and beaver.
Priday Ranch is normally only open for guided tours, so this is your chance to explore on your own. Go for a walk or hike at the Preserve, enjoy a nice DIY picnic, or just pop in to say hi, the day’s adventure is all up to you! Land Trust staff will be on-site, providing you with maps, pro-tips, and the best ways to explore the Preserve. We are also happy to share information about the Preserve, Cram Fire impacts, and restoration work that is underway.
Key information:
Drop in to the Preserve between 10am–3pm. Gates will open at 10am and close at 3pm.
What to bring: Snacks/lunch, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.
Please note:
Priday Ranch is a rustic nature Preserve. There are no established facilities such as trails, picnic areas, or trash removal services.
Visitors to the Preserve may encounter risks associated with terrain, wildlife, and weather. Please exercise appropriate caution: the Deschutes Land Trust is not liable for injuries to Preserve visitors.
Registration is helpful, but not required. Registrants will receive important event details and directions leading up to the outing.
Accessibility: There is a portable restroom available. Parking spaces are in a packed dirt/gravel lot. Priday Ranch has mostly flat, dirt and gravel roads for walking. Check-in will be near a grassy open area. Terrain will be uneven at times.
The Land Trust is working to make our events as accessible as possible. Please let us know at least one week in advance if there is something we can do or provide to support you in participating in this Open House to the fullest and we will accommodate as possible.
