Priday Ranch Tour, Priday Ranch

Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Peter Cooper for a tour of one of our newest conservation projects, the 4,500-acre Priday Ranch! Explore along Trout Creek and see the rugged canyon walls. From beaver activity to golden eagle habitat, get a taste of what makes this property so incredible. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

Face masks: Per Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidelines, face masks are no longer required indoors or outside. Individuals who wish to wear a face mask may do so.

  • Outing Details + Route

    Hike Rating: This is a moderate 2-3 mile hike off-trail through grassy meadows and along Trout Creek.

    Route: This hike will start near the parking area and will visit the newly restored areas of Trout Creek. We will venture off-trail into the meadow. Terrain will be uneven at times.

    Elevation gain/loss: This hike is moderate with little elevation gain/loss.

  • What to Bring

    Snacks/lunch, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.

  • About the Property

    The Land Trust protected the 4,500 acre Priday Ranch in 2020. Priday Ranch contains ten miles of Trout Creek, Antelope Creek, and Ward Creek, rugged canyons, and native grasslands. The property is located north of Madras, Oregon and is home to numerous wildlife species including steelhead, nesting golden eagles, mule deer, Rocky Mountain elk, and beaver.
