Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Michelle McSwain for a fall tour of Priday Ranch. With more than 10 miles of Trout Creek, Antelope Creek, and Ward Creek, rugged canyons, and native grasslands, Priday Ranch is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. Explore the meadows and canyon carved by Trout Creek as you admire towering rock walls. Learn about the natural history of the Preserve as well as past and current restoration projects. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

  • Outing Details + Route

    Hike Rating: This is a moderate 2-3 mile hike on dirt roads and through grassy meadows along Trout Creek.

    Route: This hike will start near the parking area next to the barn and house and follow roads. We will venture off-trail into the meadow. Terrain will be uneven at times.

    Elevation gain/loss: This hike is moderate with little elevation gain/loss.

  • What to Bring

    Snacks, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.

  • About the Property

    The Land Trust protected the 4,500 acre Priday Ranch in 2020. Priday Ranch contains ten miles of Trout Creek, Antelope Creek, and Ward Creek, rugged canyons, and native grasslands. The property is located north of Madras, Oregon and is home to numerous wildlife species including steelhead, nesting golden eagles, mule deer, Rocky Mountain elk, and beaver.

    The Land Trust is working to make our Walks + Hikes as accessible as possible. Please let us know at least one week in advance if there is something we can do or provide to support you in participating in this outing to the fullest and we will accommodate as possible.
