Fall colors may be fleeting, but there are many different ways to explore them while they last. Explore nature near you and create unique autumnal art with simply a pen and your favorite fall leaves. Follow the steps below and start crafting!

Venture into the crisp autumn air! Find a neighborhood or trail nearby that has some falling leaves.

Gather your leaves—we recommend a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors! You can even gather needles from an evergreen or conifer tree. Be sure to take only what you need for your craft and leaf the rest for wildlife.

Once you’ve gathered all of your leaves, head back home and assemble your art station. You’ll need:

  • Blank paper
  • Glue stick or tape
  • Markers, crayons, pencils, and pens
  • Masking tape or clipboard (optional)

First things first, you’ll want to attach your leaves to your paper. We recommend a glue stick but tape or regular glue work fine as well. If using liquid glue, make sure to let it dry completely before starting your doodles.

Once your leaves are fully attached, it’s time to doodle!

Using the leaves as part of your image, create characters, scenes, animals, or whatever you’d like around them! You can see below an example of our leaf doodles. The sky is the limit so have fun and get creative!

Once you’re done doodling, be sure to display your beautiful artwork somewhere that can be enjoyed by many! The fridge door is one of our personal favorites.
