November and December are traditionally considered the season of giving—a time of year to give back to the communities and causes you cherish. There are many ways to give back, including volunteering your time, donating goods, or making a financial gift. Regardless of how you give, we hope you will include the Land Trust in your giving season plans. Here are a variety of ways that you can support the Land Trust:

  1. Make a Financial Gift. Your annual support is what makes our work possible. Large or small, your gift makes a real difference in helping protect and care for the lands and waters of Central Oregon.  Make your gift online, mail a check to us at 210 NW Irving Ave. Suite 102 Bend, OR 97702, or learn more about how to become a monthly donor.

  2. Give a Loved One a Gift Membership. If you have someone on your list that already has everything (or doesn't want material things), give them the gift of land protected and cared for forever. You can donate to the Land Trust online, selecting the "In Honor" gift option. Or, call our office and make a gift over the phone: (541) 330-0017. We will send a card to the recipient, letting them know you've made a gift in their honor.

  3. Sign up to Volunteer with the Land Trust. While our volunteer opportunities are quieter in the winter months, you can fill out a volunteer application now so you're ready to go when spring rolls around! Our volunteer enews will keep you updated with all the opportunities we have for you to roll up your sleeves, dig in the dirt, or help in the office or from home.

  4. Create a Fundraiser on Facebook for the Land Trust. Facebook makes it easy for you to raise money in support of the Deschutes Land Trust! Log into your Facebook account, then go to the Land Trust's fundraiser page and select how much you'd like to raise for the Land Trust. Update the image and text associated with your fundraiser (make it personal!), then share with friends on Facebook! People can donate to your fundraiser in just a few clicks without leaving Facebook, and Facebook pays all processing fees. It's that easy!

  5. Consider IRA Charitable Giving. If you are 72 or older, you can make a charitable gift from your IRA without counting those gifts as part of your adjusted gross income. Charitable contributions can be made, up to a maximum of $100,000, from eligible retirement accounts including traditional Individual Retirement Accounts and Roth IRAs. Learn more about IRA charitable giving.

  6. Support Local Businesses that Support the Land Trust. We encourage you to support the local businesses that support the Land Trust! Contributing to our sense of community (and protection of land), these businesses deserve a round of applause. Find out more.

  7. Make a Stock Gift. Many people prefer to donate stock to the Land Trust. By giving appreciated property (for example, stocks or bonds), you can avoid paying capital gains taxes on the appreciation, receive a tax deduction on the full value of the gift, and support the Land Trust at the same time! Learn more about how to make a stock transfer to the Land Trust.

Thank you for helping to conserve and care for the lands and waters of Central Oregon!
