The Hindman Springs trail at Camp Polk Meadow Preserve recently had a facelift. Crews were on site this spring helping us improve accessibility at the Preserve by resurfacing trails and the parking lot. One of our goals was to use a special blend of gravel that compacts better and is easier to navigate with with wheelchairs, walkers, and other wheeled devices.

We wanted to share, however, that trail (and parking lot) surfaces will take a few months to firm up to their correct hardness. Until then, they may be softer than expected. If you notice any other unusual trail conditions (other than softness), please keep us posted. This is a new trail process for us and we are keen to see how it develops over time. In the meantime, thanks for your patience both during the extended construction and this summer as the trail firms up!
