Every spring there are a crew of folks working behind the scenes like wizards to get trails at Land Trust Preserves in shape for visitors. These amazing folks are our volunteer Trail Stewards who help make it possible to care for the places the Land Trust protects.
This year, we wanted to send a special thank you out to two of our Trail Stewards, David Margiott and Kathy Montgomery. David and Kathy have volunteered as Trail Stewards at Indian Ford Meadow Preserve since 2017. They helped tend the meadow trail loop, raking needles, picking up trash, and pulling weeds. But of all these regular tasks, weed pulling was their passion. In their regular reports on their efforts, David and Kathy would submit the number of weeds they pulled each visit: 522 mullein, 323 mullein, 404 mullein. You get the idea! Over the years, David and Kathy have single-handedly pulled thousands of weeds, helping control the mullein population at Indian Ford Meadow Preserve. Their dedication has helped build healthier native plant communities that will thrive long into the future. Though David and Kathy have decided to change up their volunteer activities, we know their efforts have left Indian Ford Meadow Preserve a better place. Thank you for your time and energy David and Kathy!
