Steve Moore (pronouns: he/him/his) may have been born under a wandering star. Indeed the star-studded night sky has been a major part of his life. Steve aspired for a park ranger career from age 12, and achieved that aspiration for the rest of his life. He enjoyed a career as a California State Park Ranger, retiring in 2002 after 31 years, but didn't stop there. He has continued work in that role seasonally for the National Park Service, specializing in night sky programs at a variety of National Parks and Monuments, most of them bearing dark sky certification. More recently he has volunteered for Oregon State Parks, the Oregon Observatory in Sunriver, and the Mono Basin Scenic Area (Eastern California) as a night sky interpreter. Born in Oregon, Steve has lived in Bend since retirement and has attended and supported many Deschutes Land Trust activities. He now looks forward to sharing the combination of the Trust's scenic Rimrock Ranch and its fine dark sky at our scheduled star parties!
