Metolius Preserve Prescribed Burn Community Gathering
Join the Deschutes Land Trust for a community gathering to learn the spring prescribed burn at the Metolius Preserve.
April 25, 2024, 4-5pm, Camp Sherman Community Hall
The Land Trust is hosting a gathering for the local community to learn about our plans for a prescribed burn at our Metolius Preserve. The prescribed burn will be completed in conjunction with The Nature Conservancy, and Deschutes National Forest/Sisters Ranger District in late April or early May.
At the gathering, staff from each organization will share goals for the burn, explain how the burn will be managed, and explain why prescribed fire is so important to our ponderosa pine forests. Following the presentation, staff will answer questions community members might have.
Please note: This event will follow the OSU Extension Wildfire Home Protection Strategies event that’s scheduled from 1- 4pm at the Community Hall. No registration is necessary for this community gathering, but registration is required for the OSU event.
The Land Trust is working to make our events as accessible as possible. Please let us know at least one week in advance if there is something we can do or provide to support you in participating in this Open House to the fullest and we will accommodate as possible.
