Nature Kids: Animal Architects!

Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Karen Walsh for Nature Kids! Get outside and explore the nature of Central Oregon on guided family nature walks just for kids ages 5-10. Kids and their families can explore, imagine, and grow through hands-on activities and experiences outside. During September, we’ll explore the homes animals create! Search for nests, webs, and mounds while learning what animals need to thrive in the natural world. Meet other families, learn more about the natural world around us, and have fun! Offered on the second Wednesday and last Saturday of the month April-October at Land Trust Preserves and in Bend. Perfect for kids ages 5-10 with a grown-up in tow. Registration is helpful, but not required. Registrants will receive important event details and directions leading up to the outing.

• Outing Details + Route

  Hike Rating: This is an easy for kids, up to 1 mile walk. Distance will vary depending on age and ability.

  Route: This outing will meet at the pavilion at Shevlin Park and walk park trails from there. Terrain will be uneven at times.

• What to Bring

  Snacks, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.

• Accessibility

  The Land Trust is working to make our Walks + Hikes as accessible as possible. Please let us know at least one week in advance if there is something we can do or provide to support you in participating in this outing to the fullest and we will accommodate as possible.
