The Land Trust's conservation projects fit into two general categories:

Preserves: these are properties that are owned and managed by the Deschutes Land Trust to conserve fish and wildlife habitat. Preserves are not public property, but privately owned by the Land Trust. We do, however, welcome the community to explore our Preserves. Some Preserves are open to the community on guided hikes only. Land Trust Preserves include:

Other conserved lands: these are privately-owned properties that are protected by the Deschutes Land Trust via a voluntary land protection agreement, or a conservation easement. In each case, a private landowner owns and manages their property, but their managment is guided by the land protection agreement they established with the Land Trust. The Deschutes Land Trust does not own these lands, nor are they open to the public. From time to time, the owners of these properties allow the Land Trust to offer guided tours.
